My Favourite Vitacost Products

Don't you just hate how certain health food products are two to three times more expensive here than they are overseas? Online is the way to go, with Vitacost boasting a HUGE selection of discounted food, protein powders, superfoods and even beauty and pet products, all at reasonable prices.

In the past few months I've placed several orders with Vitacost. The packaging and shipping times to Australia, along with their excellent email communication make for a pleasant customer experience.

While iHerb is my usual go-to health food website, Vitacost is great for Australians as they will ship particular products here that iHerb won't.

Without further ado, here's a short list of my favourite Vitacost products:

I have professed my love for this protein time and time again. With such a short ingredient list of all-natural ingredients, About Time is a quality whey protein powder.

Vitacost's price is far lower, and they even offer the convenient Fill, Shake & Go single serve bottles.

Who wants to pay upwards of $30 or $40 for a kilo of chia seeds when you can get the same amount for a fraction of the price. These chia seeds will set you back just $10 for a 16 oz (453g) bag. Bargain!

Forget those fish or krill oil tablets and get your omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids from chia instead.

When you mention anything hemp related, the first thing most people think of is marijuana. Hemp has been used for centuries, for anything from paper, clothing, bio-fuel and as a food.

As I mentioned in a previous post, hemp seeds are full of omega-3 and -6 fats and are considered a complete protein, making them a staple in many vegetarian and vegan diets.

You'll find that most dried cranberries are coated with sugars, but not the Eden Foods brand. They use apple juice to add that little bit extra natural sweetness.

Add some to your granola/trail mix or a smoothie.

If you're a fan of Mexican cuisine like I am, then these should be a pantry staple. Buying dried beans means avoiding all that extra sodium commonly used in the canned varieties.

Black beans aren't as commonly found in Australia, so Vitacost is the place to go.
