There are so many variations of the Rum Ball recipe out there, but the one thing they have in common is that they're laden with sugar. You know that tin of condensed milk that binds all the ingredients together? That's 240g of sugar right there. Can't you feel the kilos piling on just from reading that? Natvia (stevia) is a lifesaver. It's an all natural sugar substitute that contains next to no calories; it ticks all the boxes. Three of the ingredients used in this recipe contain stevia, with two of them being Natvia-sweetened products. These rum balls are just as delicious as the traditional ones, with a protein hit and with no added sugar! Take some of these with you to share with your workmates or keep some in the fridge for a post-workout snack. Ingredients 60g almond meal 3 scoops About Time chocolate protein powder 3 tsp Chocolate Vitarium 3 Natvia sachets 2 Tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes Water Directions Add the coconut flakes to a blender and pulse until chopped finely, like desiccated coconut. Set aside for later on in the recipe. Combine the protein powder, Vitarium and Natvia with water until it makes a thick paste. Add in the almond meal and stir until well combined. Place the mixture in the fridge for 20 minutes to firm up slightly. After 20 minutes, take one teaspoon of the mixture and roll into a ball. Dunk the ball in the coconut mixture and cover completely. Repeat until all the chocolate mixture is gone. Return to the fridge for a further 20 minutes, or until they're ready to be served. Makes 25 Rum Balls Macros per rum ball 31 calories 3.5g protein 1.6g fat 0.3g carbs 0.1g sugar Cost - $4.70, or less than 20 cents each! via Stacie Michelle http://stacie-michelle.blogspot.com/2013/08/low-carb-sugar-free-rum-balls.html | |||
